Happy Monday, friends!

I am back from a weekend in Ottawa with family. As much as I would love to say that it was amazing, it really wasn't. From about dinner time on Friday to Sunday I felt so incredibly ill and basically ate nothing. I felt horrible and was trying to keep up with my family but really just couldn't. Most of my weekend was spent on the couch trying to drink liquids.

I am still off today but hope I'm on the mend.

A weekend away leads me to my topic today - I am overwhelmed!!!!

Do any of you take a day or two away from the blogging world and come back feeling like you have fallen so far behind? My poor reader had SO many unread posts and I just didn't even know where to begin.
Overwhelmed by Unrealistic Exceptions? Balance.
I am constantly faced with this desire to keep up with everything and anything because, well, I love reading all the comments, responding to each one and keeping up with all of YOUR sweet happenings (ha, get it?), but I'm going to be real honest here - sometimes I just can't. I just can't do it. I know that I am sounding as if I have a million followers (clearly not even close), but I hope some of you understand if I go a little MIA for a few days on your blogs and on my own! I have an extremely busy week at work so I'm hoping I just make it out alive.

All that to say, I missed you all this weekend and hope you had a great weekend.

  1. You saw, I posted about this last week and was texting a blog friend about it last night. We are doing it to ourselves as bloggers - burning ourselves out and making five posts per week the norm, feeling like we have to comment on every single post - it takes the fun out of the hobby! I want to get on a soapbox about it but I don't have a million followers, either, so a) not many people would read it and b) obviously it IS do-able, I just suck at it apparently. Oh well.

All that to say, I hope you feel much better and enjoy your extra day of rest today. That mark as read button is amazing!

  2. I totally hear you. Thanks to STILL not having home internet, I've been out of the loop and I've felt really guilty about it. :(

I hope you feel better soon!

  3. I feel like this all the time. When I get up to 200 unread blog posts I start getting twitchy, but I have to remember that they will be there tomorrow. If I comment a day late it's ok. I will get caught up eventually. Hope you feel better soon, we will be here when you get back!

  4. Oh no, that's the worst! Hope you feel better soon! And I can totally relate. I can't even imagine what the people who have hundreds/thousands of followers go through to keep up, I get so overwhelmed sometimes too! Luckily, no one gets offended if you miss a post or comment reply. (Well, I don't; but I don't think most people would either. Ha!)

  5. I totally feel ya! I am cutting way back on posting and I can't read or comment at work anymore (too busy!). At first it made me sad, but now I realize the world will keep turning and I'll catch up when I can. :) hope you're feeling better!

  6. I have a tendency to go totally MIA on all social media for a couple days at a time. Even though I know that Bloglovin is blowing up and my emails are three days old. The thing I tell myself is that I'm busy living my life! Isn't that a funny thing :) Don't stress so much. We're all still here after your hiatus!
